The band's name Worlds Of If is based off a comic book name, because of this we tried to keep a look of science fiction. Nathan Evans and Fabian Mendiola were the Co-Directors for the music video and based off of Fabian Mendiola's vision we started out in space behind the moon and then fly past it, down to earth into a city to begin the band playing. Nathan Evans created this minute long effect shot by creating all the planets, city, streets, cars driving around, biuldings and rain drop etc.
The Worlds Of If music video is an Independent film project with a shoe string budget. Nathan says, "Working together as a creative team worked well for a short time schedule; it was like the film crew was a band also working together to create Cinematic art." Preproduction was tight and Production was even shorter with less than two days for shooting. With Fabian Co-Directing he could set up some scenes with the Cinematographer Brandon Santiago in advance while Nathan prepared the band and crew for the set. In an interview on KEN5 Morning Show Fabian quotes, "It just shows that if you have heart, really good friends and you a good imagination you can put anything together." The Hope music video consisted of 72 cuts of Visual Effect shots with a total of three people working on them; Nathan Evans, Attila Zalanyi, and Jean Claude Michel. Attila Zalanyi created the animation on the car wreck shots and the pills dropping shot. On the car wreck sequence the Directors Nathan and Fabian tried to preserve truth with taste. Co-Director Fabian Mendiola wanted to create a very powerful ending by having the main singer Ben Brooks seem to die and with the woman's spirit coming back in spirit form. With this idea Nathan tried to bring out the of the spirit world a little before hand by punching through to the other side of the restroom wall, into the night sky and finally landing on the ground where he seems to be in a deep sleep. Because this idea was thought of after shooting had finished this shot would need to be created entirely in the computer, creating an entire 3D version of Ben Brooks and the restroom. With Nathan located in New York City and Fabian located in San Antonio, Texas collaboration on the projects truly evolved around the Internet. Nathan says, "I would upload a new effect shot or edit on the net for Fabian to watch and we would collaborated changes with me via speeker phone." |
